Google Earth and National Park, Mumbai

The other day I read an idea about how we can use the high-resolution Google earth images to locate encroachments across the city. Seems to be pretty cost-effective way!
I surfed for map of mumbai and zoomed in on the Greenest spot in Mumbai..Sanjay Gandhi National Park..
Though it came as no surprise (as I expected some systematic clearing for encroaching along the borders of the park), I found a huge square of land being cleared at the south-west corner of the jungle..
I really don't know whether this patch of clearing is legal or not, but it is certainly alarming as the patch forms almost 5% of the protected area and is very prominent. We can just imagine how fast the only natural sink for the pollution exhaled by Mumbai i.e. the wonderful jungle, can disappear..
Wondering if..
1. We could get the information about the lay out (plan) of borders of the forest and planned municipal limits (using Right to Information Act,2005)
2. Measure the borders of the forest
3. Get the environment loving tech geeks (I am sure there must be loads of them who want to contribute to the cause) to design some software which periodically compares the google earth images with the above map and points out the encroachments happening over the park..

what say nature lovers?
